There is just so much on the market nowadays, it is tough to make the right choice. Here are some tips to help you do that.

Whenever acquiring new tires, you ought to ask your self this type of questions: How frequently do I drive my vehicle? How do I drive my car? What do I use my car for? What are the usual weather conditions whenever I drive? These questions are a good start to narrow down your choice of tire set. You can always hear from your friends, that while browsing for new tires they noticed that some models, though very common on the outside, can come at a quite obvious price difference. What those people fail to recognize, is that the more pricey type commonly features latest in a variety of techonologies of car tire making, such as rubber and its components, steel cords and many others. Almost all of these technologies allow to enhance such important benefits of the tire as its weight for example, which has a great effect on your auto fuel efficiency. These brand new versions also allow for more mileage on every car tire, noise decrease and normally they increase maneuvering and safety of your truck.

Another factor to consider while checking out automotive tires prices is what kind of tire you need to buy. Car tires may be either wintertime, summer or all-season models. To help you find tires in the Pittsburgh area, we’ve put up a quick list of places that carry new, used, cheap and discounted tire sets. We’ve also included some of the comments from the locals at the yelp.com web community.

Margaret H.: Wonderful experience. I had a flat tire, and he checked it inside and out, tested it overnight, and put it back on my car. When I went to pay, he said it was nothing. He even gave me helpful advice on some other aspects of my car I was neglecting. During a bad week, this was a much-needed act of generosity.

Highly recommend.

Lifetime Automotive Center

5711 Forward Ave
Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Neighborhood: Squirrel Hill
(412) 421-7555

October R.: Not even deserving of 1 star. I spent $1200 on 2 visits and my car was still messed up. Forget about a refund or them fixing their mistakes at no charge to the customer. I took my car to Homers in Greenfield and had it back the next day just like new and it only cost $200. Homers now has a lifelong customer or at least as long as I live in Pittsburgh.

Firestone Tire & Service Centers

2950 Banksville Rd

Mel U: Look, car maintenance and repairs are never fun — especially when you have to sit in an uncomfortable waiting area, with no wifi and in an AT&T dead zone — but, obviously, these responsibilities are necessary. And exceptionally so in the State of Pennsylvania… so I’ve learned.

I was fond of Firestone when living in Ohio (since it was so close to my workplace), and found two locations in Pittsburgh area that were easily drivable from downtown. Banksville Road location is where I take my baby to get all oiled, lubed and fixed up as per State inspection regulations. I found the prices, services and wait time to be fair, and definitely appreciated the bit of a “heads-up” for what repairs I would likely be looking forward to fulfill my next year’s registration requirements (which is next month… geesh, a year goes by quickly). Also, any extra work required is done in a timely manner, when scheduled. I also like that I can be fit in to most morning appointments when everyone else is at work (although because of aforementioned dead zone, I don’t get much done either… bring a book or magazine).

So long as we have this amicable relationship among me, the service dudes and my car, I’ll keep returning.

West Pitt Tire Co

207 Mansfield Blvd
Carnegie, PA 15106
Neighborhood: Carnegie
(412) 276-2345

Dan P. posted: Hands down the best experience I have had with a car repair business.

They have been honest, efficient, friendly, and helpful in every experience I have had for over 15 years!

The only caveat is that their service is limited to relatively minor repairs (Tires, brakes, light mechanical, etc.)

Jimmy’s On-it Automotive

296 Spruce Run Rd
Pittsburgh, PA 15202
Neighborhood: Ben Avon
(412) 628-2153

Maghan S posted: Fast and honest service. Got both of our cars inspected with oil changes in less than a week and it cost less than what we had been expecting.
